The article, from a theoretical reference based on Landscape Ecology and the identification of landscape units, discusses the survey of the Icaraí River, located in a densely populated area in the city of Niterói (Brazil). Based on a fieldwork supported by reports and historical cartography, its river basin was delimited and restored into digital cartography. The main objective of the research was to question the reasons for the invisibility of this watercourse. As a result, we identified its route, the processes that led to its denaturation, its current condition. In addition, we presented proposals based on the green infrastructure, for an environmental improvement in the future.Downloads
