Earthworms are important bioindicators of the soil quality because of its abundant occurrence and sensibility to contamination and variation of nutrients presence there. From that ecologic fact and the creosote registries – compound with mainly aromatic hydrocarbons - in the Atlantic Forest’s fragment of Reserva Biológica União, this research sought to evaluate if the presence of the contaminant interferes the occurrence of Oligochaeta on soil through comparation between a contaminated and non-contaminated area. Therefore, it was noticed a significative quantitative difference of this organisms, with 2.6 times more earthworms in the uncontaminated area than in the contaminated area, although the total biomass was considerably larger in the area with creosote, implying the need for further studies.Downloads
