Abstract

In 2010, a new Sewage Treatment Station (STS) was established in São Leopoldo, attending about 40,000 residents. With the aim of stimulating their interest in environmental issues related to the STS, a project has been presented to one of those communities, where theoretical and practical activities were developed involving around 868 people, among children, youths and adults. Therefore, with their commitment developed through environmental education, it is possible to make people realize the importance of an STS in order to improve their quality of life and environment.
