Recycling solid wastes in construction

Extreme weather events observed mainly in the 21st century highlight the urgent need to change habits. In this context, one of the practices that needs to be reassessed is related to waste generation and management, which has become a fundamental global issue. Reducing consumption, reusing items and recycling, that is, collecting and processing materials into new hazardous products to mitigate the problems caused by greenhouse gas emissions and minimize the harmful results of their disposal, whether in landfills or irregularly. In the construction industry, recycling solid waste, through reverse logistics and shared responsibility, is essential. This practice helps combat pollution and the depletion of natural resources. This paper reviews experiences of reusing plastic waste to produce construction elements such as bricks, blocks and tiles and cementitious compounds.Downloads
