Abstract

The effluents from industrial denim processing laundries promote environmental impacts with the imbalance of the aquatic system. In this study the toxicological potential of effluents was analyzed using the Allium cepa test system bioassay. For comparison, the bioassay was carried out in crude residue (RB), treated waste (RT) in parallel with drinking water (CN). The result for RB did not show significant difference against the CN (ANOVA), but in the RT we observed the lower averages of root growth. The bioassay proved to be satisfactory for effluent toxicity, resulting in the need for RT neutralization or change in the flocculating reagent.
