Memory in focus “Was once indian” in the “Como era gostoso meu francês” and “Meu querido canibal”

Abstract

The present work aims to analyze the figure of the Indian, more specifically the head the tribe Tupinambá Cunhambebe the novel Meu querido Canibal the writer baiano Antonio Torres and film filme Como era gostoso o meu francês the director Nelson Pereira dos Santos, taking as a resource memory and its forms transmission, the different authors able to exploit this tool, making us rethink the position that the Indian occupied for so long in history of Brazil, revealing a divergent reading taken as an official of the story, promoting a renewed vision of cannibalism and indigenous people.
