(Un)veiled voices: charms of early encounters with literacy practices in memoir accounts of educators

Abstract

The paper presents autobiographical reports written by students of the postgraduate lato sensu course “Literacy and educational practices” from CEFET/RJ. The plan of the module oriented by me – “Memories of literacy: accounts from educators” – was developed, at the first moment, from the contact with theoretical texts about the reading issue and memoir texts, which focus on the first steps of writers and/or educators on reading practices. Later, the students were instigated to compose autobiographical writings, which aims at recovering their own stories of readers formation collectively and make them understand and appropriate their own stories of literacy, through which it’s possible to create and recreate the sense of the cultural and professional means in which they live. Therefore, this investigation seeks to map the professor startup on the literacy practices and the relevance of this experience in his teacher training.
