Abstract

Arithmetic progressions are not usually studied as restrictions of affine function. Thus, activities were developed in which we propose the study of arithmetic progressions anchored in the participants' knowledge of affine function. Development of the activities was based on Didactic Transposition and Meaningful Learning. This mini-course aims at discussing the relation between affine function and arithmetic progression, as well as guiding participants to recognize arithmetic progressions as a restriction of affine function.
