The purpose of this course is to present an activity that aids in the learning and teaching of fraction (rational numbers) division. At first, the activity will be proposed to participants. Following, they will analyze the results of a previous application of the same activity to a 9th grade class of a public school in the city of Campos dos Goytacazes. The concept of area and the use of concrete materials, as well as viewing the division as "how many times it fits" led students to the understanding of the process and use of fraction division, instead of merely memorizing calculus strategies that can be eventually forgotten or misused.
