Abstract

On August 2nd, 2010, the Law No. 12,305/2010 was instituted. It provides for the implementation by municipalities of consortia between cities, social inclusion of recyclable waste pickers, implementation of environmental education projects as well as other socio-environmental proposals. This paper intends to analyze the reality of the municipalities of the southwestern of Bahia (Brazil) in relation to the adequacy of Law No. 12,305/2010. Of the surveyed municipalities, only 9 accepted to participate in this work. It was observed in this research that the municipalities have many difficulties to obey what the Law requires, due to financial problems and deficiency in the technical staff.
