The study was accomplished in São João neighborhood, located in Quixadá City (Brazil). This city does not count on an extensive selective collect program and the referred neighborhood is peripheral and deficient in sanitation. This research aimed to obtain the diagnosis of the generation, segregation, selective collect and final solid waste destination in São João neighborhood. Therefore, a questionnaire was applied and a revision was developed to base the problematic. Thus, it was verified that population is quite uninformed about the solid waste questions and the importance of selective collect. Therefore, it is necessary that municipal authority encourages the implementation of selective collect programs.Downloads
