Following the growth of naval activities, the degradation of the oceans appears as a great concern and cause for alert to the conservationist actions of these environments. The United Nations’ sustainable development goals (UN-SDG) corroborate these facts and confirm the environmental importance of the oceans. Through a bibliographical review, this article seeks to analyze the regulations regarding the adequacy of public policies that fill gaps related to the discards of sanitary effluents from vessels and to ratify the importance of using the principles of precaution and prevention so that approaches, through new regulations, establish parameters, until then non-existent, of quality control of effluents consistent with the environmental sustainability proposals addressed in the ODS and that are applicable to the Brazilian case.Downloads
