Abstract

Ecology emerges as a new science that studies the patterns and sound effects of an environment through the soundscape analysis, consisting of three basic sources: biophony, geophony and anthrophony. The complex arrangement of sounds in a soundscape creates a particular acoustic signature for different environments. The objective of this work was to conduct a bibliometric survey on studies in soundscape, last years, in the database of scientific literature Scopus. Through bibliometric analysis, there is a growth in the number of publications associated with the study of soundscapes, revealing a new trend of this field of research in the scientific scenario. The study of soundscape proves to be a great tool for the study of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, and for environmental conservation, representing a non-invasive methodology, compared to other methodologies sometimes used.
