Considering the current Brazilian environmental scenario, negative aspects and impacts are perceived in relation to the management of water resources. That said, knowing the potential of water as a strategic resource for humanity, for maintaining life on the planet, this vital resource assumes great importance in the environmental, economic and social dimensions, and, in order to meet the needs of these dimensions, in an appropriate manner, it is necessary to think and manage in a systemic and integrated manner, encouraging the implementation of projects that promote the three pillars of sustainability. Based on documentary and bibliographic research, we sought to raise scientific bases associated with the integrated management of hydrographic basins, in order to analyze and make available theoretical subsidies reflected in possible practical applications for the management of the waters of the Rio Una basin, located in the Region Hydrographic VI (RH-VI) of the state of Rio de Janeiro, enabling interaction between different sectors of society. The review points out fundamental strategies for maintaining the quality of waters in the basin, for ecosystemic integrity and paths for the implementation of public policies aimed at the integrated management of water resources.Downloads
