Abstract

Coastal lagoons play an important role in regional ecosystems. This work aims to raise historical aspects of the main changes suffered by the Saquarema lagoon (RJ). One of the most relevant changes was the opening of a permanent channel to maintain communication between the lagoon and the sea. For that, it was necessary to build a guide to stabilize its opening. This change brought about major changes in the dynamics of the ecosystem. In addition to detailing the historical process of the lagoon, the present study also evaluates the changes and impacts of the artificial opening, comparing periods prior to that construction. Finally, it is hoped that this work will serve as a basis for the guidance of formal authorities and reinforce the need for adequate management and monitoring of this ecosystem.

    Engenheira Ambiental pela Universidade Veiga de Almeida especializada em Ciências Ambientais em Áreas Costeiras pelo Instituto Federal do Rio de Janeiro.
  • Rogério Neder Candella, Instituto de Estudos do Mar Almirante Paulo Moreira
    Possui graduação em Oceanografia pela Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (1983), mestrado em Engenharia Oceânica pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1997) e doutorado em Engenharia Oceânica pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (2007). Atualmente é professor visitante do Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Rio de Janeiro e pesquisador do Instituto de Estudos do Mar Almirante Paulo Moreira. Tem experiência na área de Oceanografia, com ênfase em Interação do Oceano com a Atmosfera, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: tsunami, ondas, análise de dados, freak waves e nível do mar

    Graduado em Ciências Biológicas (Bacharel em Ecologia) (1997-2001) e Mestre em Ecologia pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (2002-2004). De 2005 a 2007 trabalhou como professor de Relações Sócio-Ambientais do Colégio Municipal de Pescadores de Macaé (RJ) (parceria entre a UFRJ e a Secretaria Municipal de Educação de Macaé). De Fevereiro a Agosto de 2008 trabalhou como analista de meio ambiente do Instituto Estadual de Meio Ambiente do Espírito Santo (IEMA). Desde Setembro de 2008 trabalha como professor de Ecologia em regime de dedicação exclusiva no Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Rio de Janeiro (IFRJ).
