Abstract

This study investigates the sustainable viability of the Light Wood Frame system in tropical and subtropical regions, taking into account the production chain, energy efficiency and environmental impacts, surveying which criteria are used to assessment the sustainability of Light Wood Frame constructions. The methodology is based on a literature review, with searches in databases such as Science Direct, Scopus and Scielo, using specific keywords and applying the snowballing method to broaden the selection of relevant articles. The analysis includes an assessment of the sustainability of LWF through Life Cycle Analysis, considering energy consumption, CO₂ emissions and durability of the treated wood according to recent Brazilian Association of Technical Standards. The results indicate that, despite challenges related to humidity and wood preservation, Light Wood Frame has significant environmental advantages compared to traditional systems, due to lower embedded energy, greater thermal insulation and reuse potential, reinforcing its relevance as a sustainable alternative for civil construction.
