The city of Campos dos Goytacazes covers 4 important hydrographic basins for the supply of water and energy in the region. Historically, the region has always been the target of expansionist agriculture, especially in the sugar and alcohol sector. This work proposes to carry out environmental education to sensitize the local population and the academic community to the environmental conditions of the springs of districts of the municipality. Firstly, the environmental diagnosis of the springs in the districts of the municipality is made through field trips taking into account the conservation status of the vegetation cover and the water quality, from which physical-chemical and microbiological analyzes are carried out. The results of this diagnosis are used for environmental education that is made from presentations at events, lectures and scientific articles. It is concluded that changes in the springs occur that can be caused by anthropic influences, therefore, society has an essential role in the conservation of the springs and the environmental education activities of this work inform and raise awareness about the state of these and their necessary recovery of the riparian forest that are protected as a permanent preservation area by law.Downloads
