Abstract

Relations between Mathematics and Music can be observed since Antiquity on the experiments with Pythagoras monochord to the present day with new music technologies. There is a close connection between these two “arts” regarding melodic and rhythmic patterns, the proportion between values of musical figures, among other associations, which enable the teacher to develop an interdisciplinary work in the classroom. The aim of the didactic proposal presented previously is to work the concept of fraction and of the least common multiple through the time of musical notes and compass marking. In order to do that, videos, slides, printed material, musical instruments and the body itself are used. Creative activities and games are also part of this proposal which is adressed to High School students.
