Ocean pollution is gaining more and more notoriety, such as the frequent finding that many aquatic species and regions (until then preserved) have been directly or indirectly affected by individual and corporate actions. Given the gap in the records related to the use of thread compound in casing and tubing installed in oil wells (both onshore and offshore) and considering the premises of ecotoxicology, this study highlights the fragility in the disclosure of environmental parameters related to some storage thread compounds (Kendex OCTG and Jet-LubeKorr-Guard) and running (Lubrax Lith PM1 and Bestolife 72733) most used in Brazil. Considering the existence of options that do not require the use of such chemicals throughout the product life cycle (“dope-free” technology), the deepening of related studies (especially toxicity tests), as well as the adoption of measures with less polluting potential in well construction activities are suggestedDownloads
