This article is about the foundation and the occupation of Rio das Ostras during the period 1950 through 2007. The dynamic demography of the area of study is rather peculiar if compared with the city of Rio de Janeiro, as it underwent deep changes in the last three decades of the XXth century with the discovery of oil in the Campos Basin. The formation and occupation of the territory of Rio das Ostras is directed tied with the economical cycles of the Campos Basin.Downloads
