Buildings contribute to a significant portion of the energy expenditure in Brazil, with the artificial lighting system being one of their greatest demands in nonresidential buildings. Harnessing daylight, as long as it offers comfort to the user and is integrated with the artificial lighting system, is one of the best strategies to reduce energy consumption for lighting. Therefore PBE Edifica launched the INI-C in2022, that presents a recent instrument that allows the assessment of the integration between the two systems. The study focused in comparing the daylighting potential using the simplified and simulation methods of the INI-C, using the UFMG’s Engineering Library as a study case. Additionally, an investigation was carried out into how to ensure effective integration with the artificial lighting system using different normative bases. The simulation revealed a 27% greater potential for daylight integration compared to the simplified method. Despite this, the division of circuits for operating the luminaires, required by both methods, may not ensure the most efficient integration with artificial light, being necessary to create more awareness to the users.Downloads
