Cinema’s Corner: audiovisual culture in the outskirts of town

The audiovisual and specifically the cinema, have a widely recognized relevance in educational contexts, whether formal or non-formal. As an experience of encounter and otherness, criticism and reflection, cinema can re-signify in the school the experience of learning and teaching. Therefore, an experience report of the Recanto do Cinema, developed at the IFB, in 2019.The objective of the Project was to provide a critical and creative learning environment through the relationship between school and community, through the practice of audiovisual exhibition that characterizes the film club. The relationship between school and community proved to be significant in the context of this project, highlighting the formative and transforming character of audiovisual, both for school and for the community served. As results achieved by the project, the important school-community integration stands out. Especially for those involved in the execution of the project, Recanto do Cinema represented a unique opportunity to experience the extension's formative and transforming potentials, as well as the many and relevant meanings of audiovisual for education.Downloads
