This work aimed to monitor and evaluate the water quality of the hydrographic basin of the Macabu River and relate the results with the impacts caused by human action in the watershed. The study was carried out from October 2013 to December 2014, and it analyzed physiochemical indicators, such as dissolved oxygen, turbidity, electric conductivity, pH and total dissolved solids, in eleven points along the watershed. Results show that quality of the water sources was good, except for the point close to the river mouth; while quality of the water used for human consumption in the city of Conceição de Macabu was improper according to the standards set by the Health Ministry.Downloads
