Physiographic characterization of the Pomba River watershed in the municipality of Santo Antônio de Pádua - RJ

The present work aims to analyze the physiographic indexes of Pomba River in the city of Santo Antônio de Pádua, located in the Southeast Atlantic Region of the IX Hydrographic Basin – Lower Paraíba do Sul and Itabapoana, known as the Northern Fluminense Region. The methodology includes maps and physiographic indexes such as basin area, main river length, slope, form factor, drainage density, and, finally, concentration time. In this sense, calculations and classifications based on various authors were applied. The results indicate that the region, according to the form factor, has an average tendency to floods and, according to the drainage density, low surface runoff and greater infiltration. Therefore, Pomba River basin in Santo Antônio de Pádua presents characteristics that directly influence surface runoff. Furthermore, water resource management is fundamental for the environmental and urban planning of the region.Downloads
