Abstract

The Floriano Campus, of Instituto Federal do Piauí, operating since 1994, is built up as a educational center offering quality technical and professional scientific education in the country of brazilian state of Piauí. Today it provides education for almost 1200 students in 11 courses (technical courses, technology, licenciate courses and master degrees), more than 80 professors and 60 analysts. One the most important services provided to the students and institutional civil servants is the Institutional Restaurant (Restaurante Institucional in Portuguese), where 600 meals are served daily (400 on lunch and 200 on dinner). Until 2015, the students paid a fee in order to access the restaurant, and a servant was employed to sell the paper tickets. When the Institutional Restaurant Access System (SARI in Portuguese) was developed and implemented, a computerized system that controls the access to the restaurant, with student reservations or civil servants ticket fee through the internet, making more simple and efficient the user identification, the outside public improper use of the restaurant was eliminated and the time waiting in lines was reduced. The users must access the SARI, with login and password, and request the meals in predetermined schedules, always until one and a half hour before the beginning of the meal. Today, the reservatios occur by priorities, considering the shifts in which students have classes. The access of students to the restaurant is controlled by a optical reading of the institutional access card. In this way, the nutritionist has the exact notion of how much food should be prepared, thus preveting either the excess of the waste of food. With the SARI's implementation the functioning of the restaurant was optmized, avoiding the daily selling of paper tickets and the employing of a servant for that purpose. We also observed an increase in the access to the restaurant by the students, considering the service is now free of charge for them.
