This article aims to present a contextualized study of the work of Nicollo Machiavelli, as well as analyze the central ideas of “The Prince”, a masterpiece of Literature, Humanism and Political Science. It discusses the concepts of princedom, how they are classified and conquered, analyzing the Reasons of State and orienting rulers as to how stay in power.The book came to public between the second half of the 15th century and the early 16th century, when disorder and instability, internal dissent and the French and Spanish invasions, powerful neighboring nations, took over Italy. The thoughts of this theorist have become a classical reference since his theme is necessarily inserted in the current political thought.Downloads
