This paper aims at studying the theoretical path of Federal Institutions of Vocational Education from its beginning as Schools of Craft Apprentices established in the early XXth century, more precisely in 1909, during President Nilo Peçanha's term to its present configuration as Federal Institutions of Education, Science and Technology (IFETs), as of 2009. The purpose of the study is to rescue the history of these institutions with more than a century of existence, relating it to the socioeconomic determinants which deeply influenced their history over this period.Downloads
