This paper aims to describe the role, tasks and working conditions of Nursing personnel working on board of vessels and offshore platforms. This is also a descriptive and exploratory study carried out from March 2012 to June 2014, with the objective of describing and characterizing these professionals. Two types of Nursing professionals were found in the offshore market: maritime and offshore nurses. Profiles were described as well as their categories, functions and academic titles. There are more opportunities for professionals working on offshore platforms than in vessels. Some challengers were raised and some lack of onboard inspection by the Nursing Council were found.Downloads
