Discourse Analysis, Semiolinguistic Theory, Dom CasmurroAbstract
This article aims at approaching some aspects of Patrick Charaudeau’s Semiolinguistic theory regarding the production and interpretation of language acts, by considering the situation of communication installed between the narrator and the reader in “Dom Casmurro”, by Machado de Assis. Basic topics of the theory are reviewed in the paper. The study focus on the activity of subjects engaged in an act of enunciation and the circumstances of the speech, involving the conditions of production/interpretation of language acts. We also review relevant aspects of the construction of the narrative in Machado's work to illustrate Charaudeau’s theory.Downloads
