This article is intended to the understanding of the socio-economic impact on the lives of adults enrolled in the Connective Bone Tissue (TOC) section of the National Cancer Institute (INCA). It is a qualitative research, discussed at the light of dialectical historical materialism, by using semi-structured interviews performed with five men undergoing lower limb amputation surgery. The results reinforce the family engagement, which take on the social protection into the context of the retraction of the State, and point out the main economic and social consequences that arise during the long-term health care.Downloads
