This study aims to analyze the rainfall characteristics in the southern portion of Hydrographic Region IX (State of Rio de Janeiro) with a focus on the Imbé and Macabu watersheds. For this purpose, daily precipitation data from the meteorological station of the National Water and Sanitation Agency (ANA), located in Trajano de Morais/RJ, from January 1990 to June 2024 were used. In the comparative analysis, data from September 2023 to February 2024 were used from the simplified station located in the Águas Claras I and II Private Natural Heritage Reserves’ headquarter, in Conceição de Macabu/RJ. With the data from the ANA station, five climate indices based on precipitation data were applied. To detect statistically significant trends, the nonparametric Mann-Kendall statistical test was used. The magnitude of the trends was obtained by the Sen estimator. The results indicate that although the stations present similar rainfall characteristics in some aspects, there are differences in the intensity and distribution of rainfall. In the trend analysis of the climate indices of the data from the ANA station, in general, an increase in precipitation was observed in the Imbé river watershed region.Downloads
