Study of microbiological contamination in the Macabu River Basin, north of Rio de Janeiro State

The Macabu River Basin (BHRM) has suffered various socio-environmental impacts such as inappropriate sewage disposal and inefficient management of water resources. Field research was done to collect samples which were analyzed in laboratory in order to evaluate the water quality of this region. This study has shown that most of the samples presented irregularities. Environmental degradation, water flow reduction, aquatic fauna mortality, and risk of transmission of diseases were also observed at several points.Downloads
