Abstract

Although most women have enough muscle strength to carry out daily tasks in their lifetime, elderly females usually experiment muscular loss. This study aimed at verifying muscle strength gain through the 1 RM test in various muscular segments in a group of 30 elderly women. Results were significant (p<0,05); however, lower members scored higher – 43.50% in the leg press machine against 14% in the supine position, which led to the conclusion that gains are more expressive in greater muscular groupings.
