The recovery of Brazilian economic growth and regional space restructuring in Northern Rio de Janeiro State

Rio de Janeiro State has been receiving a number of medium and large type investments, which may cause strong impacts in its productive and socio-economic structure, as they spread across several of its regions. Its Northern Region is expected to receive a significant portion of these investments, and its spatial configuration deeply impacted. In order to understand this process, this article argues that one must examine it in the context of the international integration pattern of Brazilian economy. It also points out that a territorial corridor of economic integration is being built, embodying Northern and Eastern regions.Downloads
