Abstract

It is known that the health care professional is the one responsible for identifying, monitoring, reporting and coordinating protection mechanisms for children and adolescents as victims of abuse. The main objective of this study is to analyze the health care professional approach in child neglect situation. It is a descriptive and interpretive study conducted at the Martagão Gesteira Institute of Pediatrics. The target audience are health care professionals who work in the pediatric wards. Among the results, the lack of professional training in the area is identified both during and after graduation.
