Digital manufacturing: use of 3D printing valorization of wood waste in lighting design

EcoDesign is a development tool that considers sustainability attributes as fundamental requirements, allowing the incorporation of digital manufacturing technologies, such as additive manufacturing. Since solid waste materials depend on their valorization to be utilized, their incorporation into design projects influences various attributes. This paper presents the design of a floor lamp using discarded wood waste with additive manufacturing, aiming to enhance the value of raw materials. In addition to describing the design development process, the paper addresses and discusses the importance of digital manufacturing tools in EcoDesign for waste valorization, contributing to their recovery. Thus, it aims to present tools that can be incorporated to increase the added value of raw materials, highlighting the role of the designer as a promoter of the use of technologies for sustainability.Downloads
