An experiment with artisanal electroplating in authorial jewelry

This paper presents the results of an exploratory study that conducted an experiment on copper metallization through the artisanal electroplating process. This process was adopted to perform metal electrodeposition to coat organic elements to compose authorial jewelry. During the experimental phase, the possibilities of metallizing natural elements, such as shells, leaves, seeds, among others, were explored. The results of the experiment reveal that some natural elements are unsuitable because they are fragile and brittle; others are more viable because they have a rigid and resistant structure. Combining creativity and metallized natural elements can result in sustainable authorial jewelry.Downloads
