Situations proposed in the Math textbook for Secondary School Integrated with Vocational Education: Context and Applications

The aim of this paper is to present results of the analysis of the situations proposed in the textbook used in a High School Course Integrated with Vocational Education. Analysis of the book was based on documentary research and literature review of contextualization and Onto-semiotic Approach of Knowledge and Mathematics Education. Regarding context, the study investigated situations presented in the introduction of the contents as well as in the activities. It was found that, in the introduction tasks. context of reality prevails; whereas the Mathematics context prevails in the activities. These data demonstrate the expressiveness of the algorithmic calculations activities that contribute to the learning techniques and properties, but not for the development of the critical thinking. Thus, it is considered that the authors could have distributed the activities more evenly. It is worth noting that the activities also do not address the reality of the technical area.Downloads
