Abstract

We present the study of text genres related to medication specifically to texts of directions and of advertising nature found in nationally known magazines. We investigate the influence of such texts on sel-fmedication, a very common practice in our society. The theoretical framework is base don the concepts of texts, text genres and social practices from several authors, Bakhtin (1979), Bazerman (2005), Marcuschi (2005), Bronckart (2003) and Fairclough (2001).
