Abstract

Permanent Preservation Areas (APPs) are a constant target of anthropogenic pressures, so their delimitation and characterization are important information for decision-making, as regards measures to protect or recover these environmentally sensitive areas. The objective of this study was to evaluate the PPAs of water bodies and what are the types of conflicts in the use and occupation of the urban land of these areas in the city of Rio das Ostras (Brazil), as well as the resolutions that have been made by the environmental control agencies, considering the effectiveness of interventions. The research is based on exploratory-descriptive methods with review of the literature in the environmental area, focusing on water bodies PPAs. In this sense, we sought a universe of study with the most relevant publications, based on the bibliometric study model. It is possible to conclude that PPAs are essential for the maintenance of the ecological function of the environment, but that in conflict with the use and occupation of the soil, end up being ineffective in protecting the environment.
