Memory of teacher education in Campos dos Goytacazes: the case of “Escola Normal” (1947-1954)

This paper aims at reviewing part of the history of a public institution of teacher education of great importance for the city of Campos dos Goytacazes and the northern region of Rio de Janeiro State – the “Escola Normal”. The methodology involved the search of primary official sources as well as oral history in order to make up new documents and retrieve memories about the institution. Through the recollections obtained in interviews with former students, we learned more about the school daily life, the academic program, the teachers, among others, in the view of people who spent most of their lives in such institution.Downloads
