This research analyzed the contemporary novel “Menos que um” from the concepts of affective realism (Schøllhammer, 2012) and the effect of the real (Barthes, 1971). The investigation sought to highlight animality (Candido, 1993) in the literary text as a record of the dehumanization resulting from the neoliberal thinking of the State that chooses to let bodies unprofitable for the capitalist system die. To this end, the concepts of biopolitics (Foucault, 2008) and Homo Sacer (Agamben, 2004) were employed.Downloads
