Abstract

Reliable information is of substantial importance to management, monitoring and modeling of water bodies. Employ appropriate bathymetric techniques to different applications, contributing to accuracy of data allowing for better efficiency in the diagnosis of the studied ecosystem. The aim of this article was to make an inquiry of trivial procedures for investigation of bottom topographies of water bodies. From the point of view of its nature, the research is classified as basic, addressing the issue in a qualitative way. A gap has been identified to estimate the bathymetry in shallow waters, where sedimentation, temperature and viscosity affect the speed of sound constant.
