Abstract

The Itabapoana Basin is located in the Southeast region, totally or partially covering the area of 18 cities in the states of Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais. The region has high levels of environmental degradation, lack of vegetation covering, raw sewage rejects and hydroelectric exploitation in the Itabapoana River. This study aimed to assess the quality of water through physicochemical and microbiological analysis, from July to December 2014, in time and spatial scales assessment. The following parameters were evaluated: Dissolved Oxygen, Total Dissolved Solids, turbidity, pH, electrical conductivity and fecal coliforms. All parameters were in accordance with the limits established by Resolution 357/05 from CONAMA, except the fecal coliforms parameter.
