According to the National Civil Protection and Defense Policy, disaster management in Brazil has its actions coordinated by civil defense agencies. However, the complexity involved in disaster processes makes the constant intervention of other public policies and their agents’ a reality. In this context, the role of social assistance stands out. Responsible for most of the assistance to those affected by disasters, the performance of the agents requires an effective interaction with civil defense agencies, which is a challenge in itself. fterefore, the discussion around intersectoriality is urgent and necessary. fte study starts with a review of the literature on the different understandings about this concept, followed by text analysis of documents by the National Social Assistance Policy and the National Civil Protection and Defense Policy, aiming at identifying how intersectoriality is present in each of them. As a result, the existing intersectoriality generates auxiliary interdisciplinarity and elements that favor its construction in a collective and participatory way.Downloads
