Basic sanitation in Itaboraí: non-universalization of potable water and its risks

This summary aims to make a the whole society aware, in particular, the population of itaboraí, carrying out a statistical, legal and legislative survey, with the objective of creating a questioning for the inhabitants of that city, for the serious problems that arise from the lack of management by the Public Power towards water resources, thus causing a series of social, environmental and health problems. For this, investigations were carried out on the data made available by the Federal Government, among them the “Atlás Águas e Esgoto” – created with the participation of the Agência Nacional de Águas (ANA), which found that about 73,3% of the population of Itaboraí does not have access to potable water, given that the “DATASUS/2020”, website recorded only 18 hospitalizations and 01 death from diseases transmitted through water, baring in mind that the percentage indicating the share of inhabitants without access to water is much higher than the number of hospitalized people due to water-related diseases.Downloads
