Memory in motion: construction of the Project of Education of Rural Population

This article presents an experience of committed participation, from 1999 to 2003, of a group of workers from the land settlement Zumbi dos Palmares, in the municipality of Campos dos Goytacazes, along with other organizations – CPT (Pastoral Land Commission), UENF (University of Norte Fluminense Darcy Ribeiro) and MST (Brazil´s Landless Workers Movement). The objective of this project is to contribute for the implementation of a Rural School as part of a project of rural development. The experience was characterized by a participative methodology involving meetings, seminars and mobilizations, which resulted in significant moments of collective construction of knowledge, and aiming at an effective educational action which values the culture and identity of those living in the country. Two years later, this article is a historical register that may facilitate the elaboration of other strategies for the realization of the project.Downloads
