The objective of this work was to test the phytoremediative capacity of an aquatic macrophyte for the removal of lead. The macrophytes were submitted to exposure of the metal at concentrations of 3, 6 and 9 mg.L-1 for 10 days, and then chemical analyses were performed. The plant presented a bioaccumulation capacity, accumulating, in its root, a considerable concentration of lead, greater than in the aerial parts. In addition, no part of the plant has died during the experiment, demonstrating resistance to lead and capacity of accumulation.Downloads
