This study presents the statistics of work accidents in activities involving the production of planted forests in Brazil and describes the risk factors. The analysis used data of accidents at work available in the Statistical Yearbook published by Social Security Agency regarding the years 2007-2013. During this period, more than 5,000,000 work accidents occurred in Brazil, among which more than fourteen thousand in planted forests activities. The risks are originated from machinery and equipment, manual labor, in addition to environmental conditions. Worker participation, monitoring mechanisms and government regulation are recommended.Downloads
