The 2021 third issue of Vértices is a dossier entitled “Questões contemporâneas da educação no Brasil e em Portugal”, which features eleven papers. José Manoel Vieira Soares de Resende, from the University of Évora, in Portugal, Nívea Silva Vieira, from the State University of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo da Costa Pinto D'Ávila, from the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio Janeiro and Marco Vinícius Moreira Lamarão, from the Fluminense Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology came together, in a partnership of Portuguese and Brazilian researchers, integrating themes related to education that aim to strengthen the several challenges on these issues in these countries. The dossier deals with very important themes in the context of education, including educational inequality, the precariousness of the teaching career, structural racism, systemic violence and the threat to the public character of education. The theoretical-methodological contributions presented by the authors circulate in the field of education in sociology, anthropology, history and pedagogy. Thus, the articles, elaborated from the research of their authors, open up countless possibilities for reflection, from a plurality of regions, potentializing partnerships and “inspiring an agenda of struggles”.
